Jim Turner
The bicycle is my favorite form of exercise and allows me to experience things that are not guaranteed to people who suffer from MS. My friends Debby, Karen, Pat, Barb, Michael and Jimmy D all suffer from MS and give me inspiration to ride.
Cycling gives me a chance to see God’s creation and get away from the stress of normal life. However, when the riding gets tough and when the mountains get steep, I am constantly reminded that I don’t have MS and it is a privilege to ride my bicycle on routes that challenge me both mentally and physically. MS Global is the perfect embodiment of that challenge.
MS Global is more than a ride; it is a family of people dedicated to helping those with MS live better lives while working towards the day when we will find a cure. Training for MS Global has given me the capacity to ride 6+ hrs on the bicycle and as a consequence I have lost more than 20 lbs since the training began. The routes on MS Global are difficult and breathtaking. The ride support makes you fell as if you are on a professional team, even if you are the last cyclist up the mountain. Whether in the Alps or the Dolomites, I am left with new friends, new experiences and the knowledge that I can go farther and longer than I previously thought. MS Global is not a one time event. It is the continuation of a journey with others on the bicycle that will be with me forever.
